The Brief
Tripco required an image and video bank to use for digital marketing assets for the launch of their Viya app. The brief was to shoot lifestyle images and videos with a focus on iconic landmarks in Johannesburg and Cape Town, including high-end accommodation establishments with a luxurious feel.
Tripco’s vision was clear: to encapsulate the thrill of travel and adventure while highlighting the unique charm of South Africa’s urban landscapes. With a focus on lifestyle imagery and videos, our goal was to infuse each frame with fun, authenticity, and trendiness, setting the stage for memorable experiences with Viya.
Our cast consisted of real families and friends and featured digital creators Tebogo Pin-Pin, Mihlali Bangisi-Matokazi, and Nontando Mposo.
Wondermerk also created the app demo for the Viya app.
The Concept
At the core of our creative approach lay the belief that each journey is more than just a holiday—it’s an opportunity for self-expression, bonding, indulgence, and connection. Our storytelling revolved around the idea of personal exploration and discovery, capturing the essence of what each trip could mean for every traveller.
Our Filming Strategy:
Flexibility was key to our filming strategy. While we had planned scenes, we embraced the spontaneity of the moment, allowing the cast to organically interact with their surroundings. This approach not only enriched our footage with genuine emotions but also enabled us to showcase the richness of South Africa’s landscapes, from majestic landmarks to unexpected wildlife encounters.
Authenticity in Action:
Rather than scripting dialogue, we opted for authentic reactions and conversations, reflecting the diverse and vibrant spirit of South African culture. Drawing inspiration from real interactions, we wove narratives that resonated with viewers on a personal level, fostering a sense of connection and relatability.
A Personal Touch:
To further enhance the immersive experience, we adopted a vlog-style approach, inviting viewers to embark on the journey alongside the travellers. By blending footage from traditional cameras, smartphones, and drones, we created a dynamic visual narrative that felt more like a personal endorsement than a traditional advertisement.
Through a blend of creativity, spontaneity, and authenticity, Tripco’s Viya app campaign captured the essence of travel in South Africa, inviting adventurers to embark on unforgettable journeys and create lasting memories. With each image and video, we aimed to inspire wanderlust and celebrate the vibrant spirit of exploration.
